Optional but Recommend - Get a Contractor, Get an interior Designer. There are so many things you don't know and there are so many advantages to hiring the right team! You will recieve expert advice, trade discounts. Your project will be completed more quickly, and with the right Interior Desinger the space will feel more chohesive.
Cabinets will typically be the largest expense in a kitchen, but don’t forget items like appliances, countertops, floors, lighting, plumbing!
Once again, if you hire a Contractor or Designer, you will be most likely to get more profesional companies and trade discounts.
There are a lot of items to consider – don’t rush this process, make sure you understand, ask questions, and feel comfortable with your selections!
Please remember, the specialty designers and sales people you will need to meet with need appointments scheduled. It is unlikely you will be able to just walk in at any good company and get quality service without an appointment – because they are the best in the business!
Rarely will you be able to stack more than 2-3 appointments in a given day – prepare and take the time needed to properly get selections accomplished – ask each trade how much time you should budget – be prepared to supply plans/drawings prior to appointments.
If this is a remodel or if this is new construction – remember, its not an episode of Extreme Home Makeover – the process will take more than an hour – talk to your contractor, talk to your trades – make reasonable plans for the amount of time to allow the project to be completed, add 15%-20% time so you are not homeless while things are wrapping up!
